Ceres Magazine Issue 1 - Oct/Nov 2015 | Page 55

It's October!

happy Halloween,

to all of you!

One must note that 99 % of the contributors to this magazine, along with the owner of the magazine, are public transportation riderssome of us even long distance commutersand that makes for a big train/subway/bus happy family. Therefore, it's not surprising that Ceres Magazine's office has OCTA line 21 bus as ground zero for all the stories, ideas, research, writing and editing. I should put a note in the OCTA suggestion box to have a desk with my name on it installed at the back of the bus... WIFI would be great, too!!

Public transportations can be a challenge, and a bit intimidating for some, but if you know how to navigate the endless mechanical issues, lateness, delays and being stuck for hours at times with nowhere to go, you can meet fantastic people, both riders and transportation operators. You just have to be willing to, and that brings us to our magazine next issue's topic. Women working in public transportation. We'll interview female bus operators for OCTA and MTA, female train engineers for Metrolink and Union Pacific, train conductors for Metrolink, and the men who work with them. We’ll look at commuting through the eyes of public transportation veterans and long distance riders, and we'll have a surprise story too. So, make sure you subscribe and come back in December for issue 2 of Ceres Magazine. Thank you.
