To add to her frustrations, employers are often less than understanding when she has to take a day off to be with a sick child, attend paediatric appointments or go to the school play. Then, of course, there are the school holidays to deal with which can include paying out extra in child care costs, and struggling to get the same weeks off as everyone else so that the family can take a much needed vacation.

It is hardly surprising that many women are being drawn to the idea of starting their own micro business. The lure of working from home and cutting out the dreaded commute, of being able to attend the school play without having a row with the boss, and being able to set their own hours is certainly attractive. Luckily, the Internet Age has made running a business much easier, as well as opening up many new options, and you can now reach potential customers all over the globe in a matter of seconds. But is it a good move for you and
